Hindu Pre And Post Wedding Rituals.

Wedding or Vivah Sanskara holds a special place in other sanskaras (rituals) of Hindu. This tradition is very popular not only in India but in abroad as well. Even as many non-Hindu Hollywood celebrities Inspired From Hindu wedding and got married in Indian Style like Katy Perry and Russell Brand, Heidi Klum & Seal, Elizabeth Hurley & Arun Nayar and Padma Lakshmi & Salman Rushdie etc. The base of Hindu marriages is same but it is a little bit different in different regions of India like theme & ceremonies. Indian wedding is also famous for their long duration, a traditional Indian marriage lasts at least 3 days, even for a week thanks to some pre & post wedding rituals. Here, we are discussing some common pre & post wedding rituals of the Hindu wedding.



Pre Wedding Rituals

Engagement Ceremony:

Basically, the initial step of any wedding starts from finding a perfect life partner that is only possible with Top Hindu Marriage Sites. This ritual is actually an announcement of the new relationship where both bride and the groom exchange the rings and ends with the celebration.

Mehendi & Sangeet Ceremony:

Tilak/Sagan Ceremony:

Haldi Ceremony:

This is one of the common rituals in a Hindu wedding, takes place on both sides. In this ritual, haldi is applied to the open body parts of the bride and grooms, just a morning before their wedding.

Post Wedding Rituals

Vidaai:

After the wedding, vidaai is one of the most emotional rituals for the bride side. In this ritual, bride leaves her parents home to shift into her life partner home, so the relatives & friends of the bride say good bye to her with teary eyes and loud weeps. 

Griha Pravesh Ceremony:

This ritual is a traditional way to welcome new bride into the home not as a guest but as an integral member of the family. She enters into the home buy push a jar of rice with her right toe which represents the arrival of Goddess Laxmi into the home. 

Reception:

This is the last ritual of Hindu Marriage packed with a huge celebration music & feast, and a way of introducing the new couple to the community, friends & relatives and gets the blessings from them.
